SydStrong is blessed to bring smiles to young adults with leukemia. Here are some that have shining SydSmiles thanks to our donors and partners.

ESTEBAN

Esteban has Acute Myeloid Leukemia and was diagnosed at 19 years old. Esteban is treated by the same oncology and nursing teams as Sydney at Medical City Dallas.  We have been blessed to help Esteban by decorating his hospital room prior to admission for his second bone marrow transplant and by granting him a SydSmile at his home in East Texas.

Esteban’s Words:

“Before being diagnosed, I lived a normal high school life. I played sports and thought about trade jobs. I had AML previously but went into remission. I started community college so I can be an EMT/paramedic. Then, my AML relapsed and I had to have a second stem cell transplant. I would love to return to my “normal” after treatment.”

Esteban had a hard time determining what he wanted to do for his SydSmile – but decided that he wanted to take his family to Hawaii.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making the trip to Kauai possible. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that gave me the gift of precious time with my family. We laughed, relaxed, and created memories that we will carry with us forever. Being able to share moments like this together means more than I can put into words. Kauai was beautiful, but the greatest gift was the love, hope, and joy your kindness brought into our lives. I will always be deeply grateful.
